Peak amps is the maximum current the pack can deliver for a fraction of a second into a near-short load. Cranking an engine draws heavy current for two to five seconds while voltage sags, and the current a pack sustains through that sag is always far lower than its peak figure. There is no enforced standard for how peak amps is measured, which is why an $80 pack can print 9000A while NOCO prints 1000A for a unit that starts the same cars. Compare packs on the stated engine coverage, in litres for petrol and diesel, because that is a claim the maker can be held to.
Will a lithium jump starter start my diesel?
If the pack's stated diesel rating covers your engine size, yes.
